The DPA and DPNZ can confirm the following in respect of eligibility for participation into their Tour events, and also qualification for PDC events through these routes.
Both Australian and New Zealand citizens are eligible to enter and win prize money through both DPA and DPNZ ProTour events.
However, in respect of the PDC World Championship (and, if relevant, the PDC World Cup or other PDC event to which invitations are issued), the PDC will select the highest ranked Australian player(s) from the DPA Order of Merit and the highest ranked New Zealand player(s) from the DPNZ Order of Merit to qualify for the event and represent their country.
The intention of the qualification places is to ensure representation from each Tour for each nationality therefore, for the avoidance of doubt, no Australian can qualify through the DPNZ ProTour and New Zealander can qualify through the DPA ProTour.
Players’ attention is drawn to the PDC Rule 7.6 to determine nationality of an individual player.
7.6 A Player who wishes to participate in a PDC or PDC affiliated event where nationality is a determining factor for eligibility must prove the following in order to satisfy the PDC’s criteria for nationality:
– The player was born in that nation OR
– The player holds a valid passport for that nation OR
– The player has continuous residency (defined as their primary or permanent home in the nation) for five consecutive years immediately preceding the date of the relevant event.
